hemp-lime

Hemp-Lime construction, also known as hempcrete, is a natural, sustainable way of building, made from mixing hemp hurd (chopped up stalk of the industrial hemp plant), a lime based binder and water. Hempcrete provides the thermal envelope (walls, floor, roof) of a wood framed structure and takes the place of traditional insulation, house wrap, exterior sheeting and drywall. It can be cast-in-place, spray-applied, installed as blocks or panelized and can be finished in a variety of ways including plaster, wood, brick, stone or any other vapor permeable material.
